Our Store Goes Green!
Enjoy the song: "In The Garden"
*About New "Green" bags & wrap

Over the years we've done many things to be green-
way before it was ever cool, chic, or Oprah-endorsed.  Up here, we consider every day "Earth Day!" (Perhaps in part because we used to own Nature's Garden Health Food Store and Deli.)

With our products...

We shop locally. We support many of our very own regional talented artisans and suppliers, because they produce and provide quality work that is truly unique to our area of the mountains--most one of a kind, and hard to find treasures. (Etta's Tree of Life philosopher mugs, hand-beaded jewelry, Evergreen paintings and note cards, aspen leaf jewelry, etc.)

We carry a handcrafted all-natural and all-organic body care line of soaps, lotions and body scrubs--all locally made. And we use it ourselves, so we know it's good!

We support and sell Native American handmade crafts--produced in the land-loving and respectful way that they have always been traditionally made.

We have some really lovely burl wood carvings of local wildlife animals. They are symbiotic wood tree growths that can be removed without harm to a living tree.

We now carry soy candles. They're locally made, burn cleaner and longer, look beautiful and smell heavenly! No petroleum or lead (that traditional wicks have) like your regular paraffin candles. And they are competitively priced.

Here's some of the other things we do and continue to change:

"Green" (Beautiful & Reusable) Bag and gift-wrapping alternative...
Brand New! We now have locally-made fabric gift bags-with their own sewn-on ribbon tie. We encourage you to make a donation for the bag, which will go to the Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT). MALT helps acquire and assists in land preservation in our mountain area so that it will remain undeveloped. That way we keep some more of our trees and natural landscape, while the other progress and building continues in our community.

We have energy efficient lighting. Most of our lighting is from long-lasting florescent
light fixtures. We've replaced light bulbs with compact florescent bulbs (and we use a lot of them!).

We take a little different approach to using plastic bags: We ask people if they "need" a bag. Most are catching on that they don't. We reuse clean bags and customers are really appreciative when we explain why. We still have nice new plastic ones for the holdouts--until we run out.

We constantly reuse all possible packing materials and boxes. And we also use tissue paper, because it uses less material, and is lighter to ship.

We reuse, repurpose and recycle every possible item we can.  We get really creative, which is good for our environment and our small business budget. Even taking our recycling in on personal time.

We are switching over to more recycled and earth friendly products like recycled paper and supplies.
